I read an article by eMarketer today called “Internet Users Spending Even More Time on Web”, noting that Americans spend 30% of their leisure time online. Chances are, a large chunk of that 30% is going to be searching for topics or products they like via Google, Yahoo!, MSN, and etc. Personally, I now shop between my favorite clothing sites to see who has the best prices on spring clothes (this snow will melt before we know it!), rather than just sticking with one brand like I would in the past, leading to spending more time online finding the best prices and styles.
Make sure your site is high up on those search engine result pages by focusing on your SEO strategy. Shoppers are spending more time researching the products they want by looking for more information about the best type of product or the brand that will give them the best value for their money, so be sure to include informative articles on your site (SEO friendly of course!), that has that information right their for them to read. And hey, it doesn’t hurt that the products are only a click away from your helpful articles
Same idea goes for a blog, too - brand it with your store’s logo, make sure the posts are creative, helpful, and not a sales pitch, and link to about 1 or 2 products per post.

not only americans, but i guess now its world wide, forget about 30%, from my personal experiences, since i start blogging, almost 12 hours a day, believe that. so for general users, may reach 30% or maybe more, since facebook and myspace sky rocket the internet, so you can just imagine.
Very much agreed! I’m on a computer all day at the office, and when I come home I’m either looking at SEO news online, finishing some work, or doing some shopping online. Much of my day is spent online, especially as a result of my Facebook addiction.
Keep up the writing on your SEO blog and continue spreading your SEO knowledge!
