Youre SEO campaign has been a long and fruitful process. You’ve watched everyday as new visitors are being funneled into your site through social media outlets like Twitter and Facebook. You sat back with uncontrollable giddiness as you watched your organic results get better and better as the weeks and months passed. Finally, your site is now on the first page for your core keywords and you feel you’re on top of the world!
There was no better exposure than having your site on the first 3 pages of a search engine…that is unless you’re selling the new T-Mobile G1.
As Jeremy Crane reported, between October 22nd and 29th, to promote the new smart phone, a link to T-Mobile was provided on Google’s home page. Over 200 million searches are performed every day on Google, leaving this promotion seen over 1.4 billion times throughout its stint on the home page! From this, over 800,000 people were driven to the site to view the new phone.
Granted T-Mobile didn’t really need the publicity, but it’s amazing how this visibility drove over a half million people to their site. This is a good example of how exposure, such as high organic search rankings which could be achieved through SEO, can funnel potential customers to your site.
While SEO can boost your rankings, we don’t wield the same unbridled power as Google. But we’re working on it…. (Refer to the last Cartoon in the Post)
