Patience, like many other things, is a virtue. When beginning your SEO campaign, keep in mind that it is a long term solution – not a magic spell to get you in the number one spot on the first page of Google.
A great illustration is to take a look at many of the products you use on a daily basis. Do you buy the same brand of soda or toothpaste? Do you buy all of your towels from the same store? Do you read the same blogs and news feeds everyday? Your loyalty to them took time and patience. Once you deemed their services worthy, you became interested in what the brand had to offer. SEO is quite similar. By using SEO as a networking, branding, and educational tool, you’ll have much more to offer to the general public – a step towards extending to the masses the brand loyalty that you practice everyday, only it’s your site and not toothpaste.
SEOmoz.org is a great SEO resource. Its blog was recently graced with a “headsmacker” that new clients should take a look at concerning the investment of time in an SEO campaign. Rome wasn’t built in a day, so think of your SEO campaign as a majestic city of alabaster and marble – timeless and worth the wait.
